Summer 2012 saw the birth of a brand new events promotion company in London, 'Makin' Moves'. With already a host of successful parties under their belt, head honcho Matt Langrish-Smith and wing-man Jamesey make the next move and launch their exciting new record label for the brand. The first single to rumble out of their studios is a gorgeous soulful outing from North London producer SMI featuring the unmistakable voice of Shea Soul titled 'Just Fine'. Shea's heartfelt voice glides through the song like a hot knife to ice cream over SMI's soundtrack of afrocentric beats and emotional melancholic piano. Also appearing on the release are San Francisco top dog DJ/producer, David Harness, who works up a hypnotic groove for the floor; and New Jersey soulful maestro, Jihad Muhammad, delivers a four to the floor 'Bang The Drum Mix' adding in some fancy key work and lush sweeping strings.

A relatively new kid on the block, Leon Vandol, akaSMIhas his heart first and foremost in his music. Based in North London this young talent has already worked with Donaeo and G Frsh (signed to Tiny Tempah's label), as well as developing some new fresh soulful talent himself. A big fan of Shea Soul, Leon approached her on Facebook and they went on to link in the studio to record their first collaboration 'Just Fine'.

Shea Soulis the exciting new future-soul-jazz singer from Croydon, UK. The Brit School graduate has gained a reputation within the scene with her distinctive voice and ability to pen strong hooks and melodies. A chance hook-up led to her being asked to vocal a track with legendary dance producer Matt 'MJ' Cole. Her first official foray into songwriting resulted in the dance floor smash, 'Never Say Never'. Now firmly established on the UK underground, Shea Soul was well and truly in demand as a songwriter and featured artist, working with a slew of the UK's most credible underground producers, from Toddla T, Joey Negro, Shy FX, Donaeo, Swindle, Phil Asher, Zed Bias and Simbad. A session with Attacca Pesante spawned the biggest underground hit: 'Make it Funky', written and performed by Shea, became one of the founding hits of the UK Funky scene. Her track 'Perfectly' with The Layabouts was also a huge club smash. As well as top line writing for dance producers, Shea is currently working on her debut solo album which is due for release in 2013. Her debut solo single 'Where Did You Go' is a uniquely British sounding slice of jazz-infused street-soul -the perfect tease for her album.

Matt Langrish-Smith, London's boy-about-town whose quick bio includes 3 years in Advertising at DMC and 5 years as Head of Events at Papa Records, taking their monthly party 'Messages' to the next level. In 2009 he collaborated with Dean Zepherin to set up the internationally acclaimed Tribe Records UK (label and events company) with club residencies in Paris, Miami and London. Fast Forward to 2012 and Matt decided to spread his wings and launched a new events company 'Makin' Moves' and joined forces with local London DJ talent, Jamesy. Along with hosting his own radio show on Housefm.net since 2004, Jamesy has been an essential cog in the wheel of London's soulful & deep house scene, performing at parties including BBE, Soulogic, to name a few. He has also played gigs around the world in Dubai, Russia, Sardinia, Barcelona, and NYC, among others. Jamesy first met Matt whilst at one of his residency parties at Offthemeters.com. This chance meeting of minds marked the beginning of a flourishing new collaboration. In early 2009 they put on their first joint party, 'Messages' in London, which was a roaring success. After some years working on other projects the pair have come together once again. Matt & Jamesy both felt there was a gap in the London soulful/deep house scene for some good New York style underground house and also in response to the advent of Tracktor and laptop dj's, a much needed sacred space to encourage and showcase creative DJ mixing once more. The first event was held at Brixton Clubhouse in July 2012, with DJ'sN'Dinga Gaba (Baltimore)and At One (Atjazz Record Co.) amongst others and was an instant success! Makin' Moves next party sees the launch of their new residency at Bedroom Bar (upstairs in the Loft), London, on Friday 12th October with DJ Uchikawa from Japan, followed by a live PA from Shea Soul on Friday 9th November

You can catch the Makin' Moves Radio Show every Saturday on www.housefm.net from 6-8pm (GMT) with Matt, Jamesy and Jihad on rotation.

'Just Fine' will be released on Traxsource Promo October 8th / Full release November 5th 2012 on Makin Moves (UK)

Nice first release on the Makin' Moves label. Shea does a smooth job on the vocal, I like the contrast of laid back gliding feel of the music over the driving percussive drums on the David Harness mix. - Sean McCabe Soul Heaven
